Structure

The tasks of the Aviation Security Department are categorised into five:

1) Adopting of national policies and procedures in line with international and EU aviation security standards;

2) Certifications of Security Instructors, Security Managers and Security Screeners;

3) Conducting quality control activities to ensure the proper implementation of national policies and procedures by local aviation stakeholders;

4) Conducting Enhanced Background Checks on all aviation employees; and

5) Participation in EU and international meetings.

The Head Aviation Security is responsible for the adoption of national policies and procedures, and to represent the department in EU and international meetings. The Managers (Compliance) are responsible for the certifications of security instructors, security managers and security screeners, and for the conduct of quality control activities. The three administrative staff (assistant principal, and two customer care officers) are responsible to conduct Enhanced Background Checks and to provide support local aviation stakeholders as required.
